Makin Waves is a mobile jet ski mechanic: Wayne brings the tools and parts to your dock, your lift, or the trailer in your driveway anywhere in Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Flagler and northeast Lake counties. He services 4-stroke Yamaha WaveRunners and Sea-Doos on site, from break-in and annual service to diagnostics and ECM code scans, and most jobs are finished the same day. You never have to haul the ski to a dealer and wait in their service line.

Everything below happens where your ski already lives. Wayne tows a stocked work trailer, so the common parts and fluids are on hand when he arrives.
The first-hours service on a new or rebuilt engine, done at 10 or 20 hours. Oil and filter, a full check-over, and any early issues caught before they turn into warranty headaches.
The 100, 200 and 300-hour services your owner’s manual calls for, or the once-a-year service if you ride less than that. Fluids, filters, plugs where the schedule calls for them, and an inspection of the pump, hoses and hull fittings.
Won’t start, stuck in limp mode, warning beeps, or losing power? Wayne scans the ECM for stored codes, then tracks down the actual cause the old-school way instead of throwing parts at it.
Hard starts and rough running after the ski has sat are often fuel-related. Filters, lines and the rest of the fuel system get checked and serviced on site.
Overheating alarms, weak telltale flow, or a ski that runs hot in summer. The cooling passages and water flow get checked and cleared, which matters even more if you ride in salt or brackish water.
Battery and charging problems, switch and charger installs, stereo upgrades, and PWC detailing so the ski looks as good as it runs when Wayne leaves.

Call, email, or book online. Share the make, model, engine hours, and what the ski is or isn’t doing. A lot of problems can be narrowed down on the phone before he rolls out.
Dock, lift, or driveway. The work trailer carries the tools, fluids and common parts, and anything special is sourced ahead of time at OEM quality or better.
Code scan and hands-on checks first, so you know what’s wrong and what it will take. The ski is left cleaner than he found it.

The Makin Waves work trailer: parts and tools travel with every job.
A shop visit means hitching up, dropping the ski off, and waiting on their schedule. Here is how a mobile visit compares.
| Typical shop visit | Makin Waves mobile service | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting the ski there | You trailer it in and come back to pick it up | Wayne comes to your dock, lift or driveway |
| Turnaround | Depends on the shop’s backlog | Most service is done within one day |
| Who works on it | Whichever tech is on the schedule | Wayne, with 35 years on marine engines |
| Parts | Whatever the shop stocks | OEM or better, sourced for the best price |
| Talking to the mechanic | Usually through a service writer | Directly, by phone or email |
Not sure if it’s serious? Call and describe it. Wayne has talked owners through a fix over the phone when that’s all it took.
A big share of the Makin Waves service area is salt or brackish water, from the Intracoastal and the Halifax River to Mosquito Lagoon, and salt works its way into the cooling system and onto the engine. Flushing after salt rides, the way your owner’s manual describes, does most of the protecting. During a service visit Wayne checks the cooling system and looks for corrosion so a small problem doesn’t become an expensive one.
“I had maintenance done on my inboard outboard and a jetski on the same day.”

We come to you. We run a fully mobile service, so Wayne works on the ski at your dock, on your lift, or on its trailer in your driveway. There is no shop to drop it off at.
4-stroke Yamaha WaveRunners and 4-stroke Sea-Doos, plus Yamaha and Sea-Doo/BRP-powered jet boats. If you have a 2-stroke or another brand, call first and Wayne will tell you straight whether he can help.
Most service is easiest with the ski on a lift or its trailer. If it’s floating at the dock, mention that when you book so Wayne can plan the job around it.
Follow the schedule in your owner’s manual. That usually means a break-in service in the first 10 to 20 hours, then service at set hour marks (100, 200, 300 hours) or once a year if you don’t ride that much. Skis ridden in salt water need extra attention to the cooling system.
Most visits are finished within one day. Bigger repairs can take longer if parts have to be ordered, and you’ll know that up front.
Yes. Wayne can service the boat and the ski on the same visit, which saves you a second appointment.
It depends on the model and the job. Call with the make, model and what’s going on, and Wayne will give you a straight answer on what it should take.
Because the service is fully mobile, a few jobs have limits. Describe the problem when you call, and Wayne will tell you up front whether it can be handled at your place.
Call Wayne, book a time online, or send the details by email. Same honest diagnosis whether it’s a break-in service or a ski that won’t start.
