About Makin Waves

Makin Waves MMS originated in the Ohio Valley as Custom Marine 35 years ago. In 2016, I moved the business to Florida to address the serious need for punctual, honest and knowledgeable watercraft service on a variety of boat brands and engine manufacturers. I employ old school methods of true diagnosis and repair accordingly. You can trust me to provide quality service, as I always leave your watercraft in cleaner and better shape than I found it.

We are a 100% mobile on site service, so there are some limitations to what services can be accomplished. I’m constantly studying methods and researching techniques for ways to improve service efficiency and problem solve. It is my goal for my customers to have a positive, cost effective experience with watercraft repair.

Do you really come to me?

Yes. Makin Waves is a 100% mobile, on-site service. Wayne works on your boat or personal watercraft at the dock, in the lift, or in your driveway, so there are no dealer trips and no waiting in a shop queue.

Which engines and watercraft do you work on?

Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki 4-stroke outboards; MerCruiser, Volvo Penta and OMC sterndrives; Yamaha and Sea-Doo 4-stroke jet skis; and Yamaha and Sea-Doo/BRP-powered jet boats. Jet ski owners can read more on our mobile jet ski mechanic page.

What areas do you cover?

All of Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Flagler counties, plus northeast Lake County. If you are just outside that area, call or email anyway. Wayne does his best to fit in customers when he is working nearby.

How long does a service visit take?

Service is usually completed within one day. If a repair needs parts ordered, you will know that up front.

Do you offer yearly maintenance packages?

Yes. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum packages follow the manufacturer service schedule, and Wayne can build a custom yearly package for your boat. See the maintenance packages.

Can you install marine electronics?

Yes: GPS and fishfinder installs and upgrades, VHF radios, stereos and speakers, trolling motors, battery switches, chargers and helm gauges, from brands like Garmin, Humminbird, Lowrance, Simrad, Minn Kota and JL Audio.

Do you teach boat handling?

Boat Handling 101 comes in two formats: a three-hour basics class and a five-hour comprehensive class.
